Dear Parent / Guardian
As the 2019-20 school year draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reach out to you regarding a couple of items that we are working on as a school district.
First, I want to thank all of you for your support of both your own child’s learning and the efforts of our staff as we finished the year using remote learning strategies amid the COVID crisis. I recognize that many of you may have been unaccustomed to implementing home schooling strategies and therefore this was a new experience for your family. My principals have reported to me anecdotal feedback they have received that outlined both successes and challenges faced by our resident families and I wanted to reassure you that this feedback has not gone unheard.
Secondly, I am also very certain that many of you have questions regarding the upcoming school year and what that might look like. At this point, I must emphasize that student safety is the highest priority in our planning for next year. I also would point out that in my professional opinion a return to the “normalcy” of previous years is highly unlikely at this time. With this in mind there are two possible global frameworks that are guiding our thinking at this point and they include: a sort of hybrid model incorporating a variety of both on-site as well as remote educational approaches and the continuation of a distance education model taking the above referenced feedback into consideration as much as possible.
As our district-wide planning efforts continue, I want to alert you that a survey will be sent to you with questions designed to further guide our thinking. I strongly encourage you to respond to this survey as soon as possible to ensure the greatest amount of time to finalize our strategy for next year and also to subsequently give you the greatest amount of time to prepare as a family.
Thank you for your support during these challenging times.
