ALEXANDER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - AOS #77- ALEXANDER, MAINE

A Letter from the Principal

9/11/2020

September 11, 2020

Dear AES Families,

I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to the students, staff, and families for an excellent first week of school. Given the circumstances surrounding a full return to in-person learning at this time, I am proud of how the Alexander school community has responded.

Please be aware that we are currently working on a plan to incorporate outdoor playground and equipment for student use during break times. Updated MDOE (09/04/20) and CDC (08/12/20) guidance suggests that this equipment could be used with proper safety measures in place.

  • Classes would utilize the equipment at separate break times, to minimize mixing of cohorts consistent with State recommendations.
  • Students are required to wear masks during use of the playground equipment, consistent with State requirements.
  • Students are required to sanitize hands before and after use of playground and shared equipment, consistent with State requirements.
  • Routine cleaning/disinfecting of outdoor playground areas and equipment with high touch surfaces (ie railings and handles), consistent with Maine CDC recommendations.

Moving forward, there are sure to be additional guidelines and recommendations from the State that will help further guide schools throughout the year. To ensure you have the latest updates to our plan, please continue to check-in at the school webpage:

As we navigate a very new and different school year together, I would like to encourage everyone to remain vigilant and communicate questions or concerns to the school.

Sincerely,

Trevor Flood
Principal
