Pupils must be regular and punctual in attendance. An excusable absence shall mean an absence for one of the following reasons:
If a student has an excused absence he/she will have the opportunity to make up the work he/she missed within twenty-four hours for each day missed.
State law (20A-S 5051) defines the habitual truant as a student who has attained the equivalent of 10 full days of unexcused absences or 7 consecutive school days of unexcused absences during a school year. Parents of habitual truants will be invited to confer with the principal for the purpose of working out an attendance plan prior to initiating legal proceedings.
If it becomes necessary for a student to leave school during the day, a parent or authorized adult should come to the school for his/her child. The parent or authorized adult must sign a dismissal form before the child can leave the building. This form is located in the foyer by the secretary’s office in a notebook. We cannot permit students to leave school with persons other than the parent unless we have authorization from the parent.
