Dear Alexander School Community,
It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of our custodian, Chris McClure. After battling COVID pneumonia, Chris passed away yesterday at the Calais Community Hospital.
Chris was a beloved member of our school community, joining Alexander Elementary in 2017. As custodian, he dedicated countless hours to ensuring the building and grounds were maintained. Throughout this pandemic, Chris worked tirelessly helping to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Chris went beyond his duties of custodian, helping to make projects and activities special for the students. If a staff member needed assistance, Chris was there. If help was needed to benefit the students in any way, Chris was there.
Affectionately known to the students as “Mr. Chris,” he enjoyed bringing smiles to everyone in the building. His dedication and contributions to Alexander Elementary were great and he will forever be appreciated by our school community.
As school opens tomorrow, Monday 12/20/21, there will be grief counseling available for any students or staff in need.
